Why police shouldn't have guns.

This is a very good reason why police and law abiding citizens shouldn't have guns. At some point they are going to abuse them. Therefore it is still our strong belief that only us criminals are safe and sane enough to possess and use firearms. It is a tool of our trade and helps us keep the economy going.

Quote:Chicago, IL (AHN) - An off-duty Chicago police officer shot his nine-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son in the head before shooting himself to death in their home on Monday. The girl also died while the boy was critically wounded.

Police did not name the shooter but gave his age as 31 and his stint with the department at four years. They suspect the shooting was related to a domestic dispute between the police officer and his estranged wife, who does not live with them.

Gunshots from the victims' house at West 43rd Street were heard at 10:45 a.m. Responding police, SWAT Team and paramedics entered the home and found the boy with a gunshot wound at the back of his head and his sister with a gunshot wound in the front of her head. Their father had a fatal gunshot wound in the head.

The boy was rushed to the Mount Sinai hospital for treatment.
OLDSMAR - After he was forced into the back seat of a car at gunpoint, kidnapping victim Gregory Longley saw his opportunity.

When one of the kidnappers - sitting next to Longley - put his gun on his lap to text-message someone, Longley grabbed the gun and killed him, according to the Pinellas sheriff's office. Longley also shot and wounded another kidnapper sitting in the front passenger seat, the sheriff's office said, and told the driver to stop the car.

A clearer picture of the Sunday night kidnapping and shooting – along with the names of those involved – was released this morning by the sheriff's office.

Longley, 20, of 7823 Bay Drive, Tampa, was kidnapped at the Aday Motel, 501 Bayview Blvd., Oldsmar, at about 11 p.m., Sgt. Jim Bordner said. The three suspects were looking for a man with whom there had been a dispute over stolen coins, but they kidnapped Longley instead, believing he could lead them to the man they were seeking, Bordner said.

Longley was forced into the back seat of a white 2000 Chevrolet Malibu at gunpoint, Bordner said. Sitting next to him was Javon Strange, 18, of 4717 N. Habana Ave., Apt 711, Tampa; in the front passenger seat was Juan Carlos Morales, 17, of 12510 Memorial Highway, Tampa; and driving was Abdusbasiyr A. Blake, 18, also of 12510 Memorial Highway, Bordner said.

Near the motel after the kidnapping, Strange laid his handgun in his lap to text-message someone, and Longley grabbed the firearm and fatally shot Strange, Bordner said. Then Longley shot and wounded Morales, Bordner said.

Longley then ordered Blake to stop the car, Bordner said. Longley got out of the car and called 911 to report what happened, the spokesman said, and Blake drove to a nearby McDonald's restaurant at 4085 Tampa Road.

Restaurant employees saw the wounded suspects inside the car and called 911, Bordner said.

Strange was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Morales was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, where he was admitted for a gunshot wound. No one else was injured.

Detectives recovered the firearm Longley had taken from Strange plus one Blake threw out the window after the shooting, Bordner said.

Blake was charged with kidnapping and felony murder. The investigation is continuing, and more charges are forthcoming, Border said.

Road Rage Leads to Shooting Death

So shortly after the SC announced that common citizens have a right to guns, this guy gets rear ended. When he gets pissed he starts yelling at the lady who rear ended him. Then some do-gooder sees him and shoots him. Shoots him twice. The guy dies! Can you believe that? He didn't mean to kill him; honest he didn't! Just because the guy was coming at him and put his hands in his pocket to pull out a $100 to apologize he got shot!

Quote: On June 28, only two days after the Supreme Court announced its 5-4 ruling that Washington, D.C., citizens have the right to bear arms under the Second Amendment to the Constitution, I found myself standing in a pool of blood in York, from a man I had just shot. It was not my intent that evening to test the Second Amendment or kill somebody, but events unfolded to make it necessary for me to draw my weapon to defend myself and others.

My fiancée Maria and I had spent the day showing real estate investors our investment properties in York. We were driving to nearby Hanover to visit my mother when we came across what looked like a rear-end traffic accident.

Instead, a man, Douglas Need, had been driving recklessly when he swerved in front of a car and was hit in the rear. In a fit of road rage, he stormed out of his car, went back to two young women and a baby in the car that hit his, reached through the driver's window and started beating the driver very violently. She was able to break free and drive her car to the only place she could go -- the parking lot next to the street. Need ran back to his car, squealed his tires into the parking lot and looked as though he was going to broadside the women's car with them still inside.

At the last moment, he swerved his car around and blocked hers from going anywhere. I pulled into the parking lot, got out of the car and yelled at Need to leave the women alone while Need's passenger was in the parking lot. My gun was still holstered by my side. The woman got out of her car and escaped into the store. He followed but only moments later exited the store back into the parking lot. Both Need and the man with him were uncontrollably enraged and seemed deranged past the point of caring who they hurt.

As they continued to threaten that they had guns and were going to kill people, for some unknown reason Need ran to the driver's side door of my car and started pounding on the window, shouting at my fiancée who was inside the car with the engine running. Fearing that Maria's life was in danger because of his previous death threats, that's when I drew my weapon. I ordered Need to step away from my car, which he did. He then returned to the center of the parking lot, according to witnesses, and continued with threats and deranged behavior.

I went to my car and stood at the driver's side door. Need turned back to me and started coming at me with his arms waving and shouting "just shoot me." I ordered him to stay back, but he kept coming. Then, when he was about four or five feet from me, he put his hand into his pants pocket, and that is when I fired my first shot into his left thigh. It didn't stop him from coming at me. He grabbed my shirt, ripped off the top button and grabbed my right arm. That's when I shot him the second time point-blank into his thigh. I was told later that the bullets had severed his femoral artery and he had bled to death at York Hospital. I was truly sorry he died, but knew I had made the right decisions.

Small Texas school district lets teachers, staff pack pistols

This is terrible news for our cause. Now teachers can carry guns? I mean what gives what if I wanted to shoot the idiot in my class who stole my drugs? How can I do that and get away easily when every teach could be packing their own heat!

Or God forbid they teach students about how to handle guns safely so that they become gun owners in the future! This must stop now! These kids should not be around guns. Only police and us criminals are responsible enough to be gun owners. Write OSHA to help see that our jobs become easier!

Quote:When classes start Aug. 25 in the tiny Harrold school district, there will be one distinct difference from years prior: Some of the teachers may have guns.

To deter and protect against school shootings, trustees have altered district policy to allow employees to carry concealed weapons if they have a state permit and permission from the administration. The 110-student district lies 150 miles northwest of Fort Worth on the eastern end of Wilbarger County, near the Oklahoma border.

More than a dozen state legislatures have considered making it legal to carry guns on college campuses, but experts and officials contacted by the Star-Telegram say the move is unheard of in elementary or secondary schools.

Superintendent David Thweatt said a main concern was that the small community is a 30-minute drive from the sheriff’s office, leaving students and teachers without protection.

'To be prepared’

The district’s lone campus sits 500 feet from heavily trafficked U.S. 287, which could make it a target, Thweatt said.

Other security measures are in place, including one-way access to enter the school, state-of-the-art surveillance cameras and electric locks on doors. But after the Virginia Tech massacre and the Amish school shooting in Pennsylvania, Thweatt felt he had to take further action, he said.

"When the federal government started making schools gun-free zones, that’s when all of these shootings started," Thweatt said. "Why would you put it out there that a group of people can’t defend themselves? That’s like saying 'sic ’em’ to a dog."

Texas law outlaws firearms on school campuses "unless pursuant to the written regulations or written authorization of the institution."

Thweatt did not say how many of the 50 or so teachers and staff members will be armed this fall because he doesn’t want students or potential attackers to know. Wilbarger County Sheriff Larry Lee was out of the office Thursday and did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.

Barbara Williams, a spokeswoman for the Texas Association of School Boards, said her organization is not aware of another district doing something similar. Ken Trump, a Cleveland-based school security expert who advises districts nationwide, including in Texas, said Harrold is the first district he knows of to take such a step.

Trump said he would have advised against allowing teachers to arm themselves, if only because of liability concerns. In the long run, it could have been cheaper and safer to hire security or off-duty police, he said. Texas school districts also have the option of forming their own police force, he noted.

"What are the rules for use of force?" Trump said. "Or how about weapons-retention training? Because they could go in to break up a fight in the cafeteria and lose their gun."

Thweatt said the district did not rush into the decision. Officials researched the policy and weighed other options for about a year before trustees voted on the policy in October.

"The naysayers think [a shooting] won’t happen here," he said. "If something were to happen here, I’d much rather be calling a parent to tell them that their child is OK because we were able to protect them."

The gun policy Teachers and staffers in the Harrold school district can carry firearms beginning this fall if they:

Have a Texas license to carry a concealed handgun.

Are authorized to carry by the district.

Receive training in crisis management and hostile situations.

Use ammunition that is designed to minimize the risk of ricochet in school halls.

20 yr young man shot trying to make a living at his job.

Poor guy was shot in the head. He was just trying to make ends meet with his daily job. If the old man would have just submitted no one would have been injured. Said to see this is where things are going where a young man cannot even perform his job. Where is OSHA when you need work place safety initiatives?

Quote:KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A 20-year-old man attempted to rob two victims at gunpoint near an ATM when one of the victim’s took out a handgun and shot him.

Police were called to the Bank of America, 8320 North Oak Trafficway, in regard to a shooting just before 9 a.m. Saturday.

When police arrived, they found a male in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

According to police, an older couple was leaving the drive-thru when a robber came up and pointed a gun at the wife’s head.

Her husband got out of the car with his own gun.

The suspect aimed for the husband, but the husband fired first shooting the robber in the head. The man and his wife were clearly shaken, but stayed put until police arrived to question everyone.

An Illegal Immigrant shot a teenage who was just trying to do his job. To kick it off the illegal immigrant was a FELON! Of course being an illegal he just went home and became legal murderer again.

Quote:Sheriff: Immigrant shot burglar teen

An illegal immigrant tasked with guarding a convenience store shot and killed a teenager who attempted to burglarize it, Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Treviño said Monday.

Silvestre Delgadillo, 28, remained on the run and authorities had "no idea" whether he fled to Mexico, Treviño said.

Delgadillo, who was convicted in 2005 on a felony drug charge, has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, a third-degree felony.

But the actual homicide is complicated by Texas' castle law, which allows people to use lethal force to defend themselves and their property.

Delgadillo is accused of shooting Roberto Garcia, 17, late Friday night.

"He is there to protect his residence - protect the business - under the direction of the owner," Treviño said.

He said he will submit the case to the District Attorney's office, which will then present it to a grand jury. The grand jury will determine whether to charge Delgadillo in connection with the homicide.

Delgadillo, who was deported after being released from prison earlier this year, could also be charged with a felony for illegally re-entering the country.

The shooting occurred late Friday or early Saturday, Treviño said, when Garcia and Ramiro Garza and Eloy Santana, both 17, tried to burglarize Valeria's Drive Thru convenience store by breaking through its roof.

Delgadillo was living inside the business, though, and had been told by store owner Olivia Lopez, 34, to guard it with a gun she provided, Treviño said. Delgadillo shot Garcia during the burglary, hitting him in the lung and artery, Treviño said. The wound killed Garcia within minutes.

Lopez, the storeowner, will be charged with failure to report a felony because she was not candid with police about the shooting, Treviño said. A grand jury would also have to decide whether she could face any sort of homicide charges.

"Ms. Lopez gave a convicted felon a firearm," Treviño said. "That's against the law. She lied to us from the onset of the investigation. That's against the law."

Garcia's accomplices will also be charged with burglary, Treviño said.

Again we a case where a young man is injured by a overzealous homeowner who thinks he owns the world. The man shoot at him twice! He might have killed the teen breaking into his house![/i]

Homeowner wounds would-be burglar
From the Atlanta Journal Constitution of June 22, 2008
Fulton County police said they will consult with the district attorneys office before deciding on whether to charge a homeowner who shot and wounded a teenager charged with breaking into his townhouse Saturday evening.

"We're still looking into the homeowner," Fulton County police spokesman Scott McBride said Sunday. "We don't know if charges will be filed. [Investigators] have to talk with the [Fulton County] district attorney's office about that."

The homeowner, identified as Desonte Lindsey, 28, shot and wounded a teen breaking into his townhouse in the 6200 block of Flat Trace, near Union City, police said.

"The guy hears the front doorbell ring" just before 6 p.m., McBride said. "When he goes down to answer it, a 16-year-old kicks in his back door."

The man got a gun and fired twice at the teen, hitting him once in the arm, McBride said. The youth ran, and the man chased him into a nearby wooded area and lost him. Lindsey told police it was the second time this month his home had been broken into.

The teen was arrested after calling 911 to report he'd been shot, McBride said. He is charged with burglary and criminal trespass, McBride said. The teen underwent surgery at Southern Regional Medical Center on Saturday to remove a bullet from his arm.
A 19-year-old man accidentally shot and killed himself Tuesday morning while he was attempting to rob a Grand Prairie home, authorities said.

Cameron Sands, 19, of Fort Worth kicked in the door of the house and then shot himself in the stomach as he pulled a gun out of his pants to shoot the homeowner, Grand Prairie police said. The homeowner was not injured.

After Mr. Sands shot himself, he dropped the gun and ran out of the home. Police found his body around 5:30 a.m. in the driveway of the home in the 2800 block Garden Grove Road, said Lt. John Brimmer, a Grand Prairie police spokesman.

.This is the first that I.ve heard of a robbery suspect killing himself as he is drawing a gun out of his waist band,. Lt. Brimmer said. .The criminal evidence points to that. It certainly isn.t common..

2008/06/15: NRA Smears Obama's Stance on Gun Ownership

Barack Obama is trying to walk a fine line between protecting the right to bear arms guaranteed under the Second Amendment and clamping down on more than 30,000 deaths from firearms that happen every year in the United States.

The 30,000 number doesn't even include the number of times our job is ended early! It's only a made up number of how many people we supposibly killed. I don't know about most other criminals, but I just want your money and property. It has no value to you, but it does to me.

Quote:However, the National Rifle Association is against any limitations on gun rights, including banning or controlling any kinds of ammunition, even armor piercing bullets that hunters "desperately" need to kill deer. So in their "fair and balanced" imitation of Faux News, the NRA today created a webpage to cry wolf about Obama.

Don't fall for the nonsense.

The only thing one needs to understand about this NRA campaign is that they are not protecting the gun rights of the average hunter or law abiding gun owner, they are protecting gun companies sales to gang bangers and criminals who account for a large percentage of their revenue.

Gun companies get a new sale every time a gun owner replaces a stolen weapon, which is far more often than one would think. Over 600,000 firearms are stolen every year in the U.S. Instead of working to make their guns more traceable and the streets safer, the gun companies want to protect their lucrative indirect and repeat sales to gang members and criminals.

While the NRA claims they are protecting the rights of hunters and citizens to bear arms, they are also protecting the right of criminals to have easy access to automatic weapons and high kill rate ammunition so they can keep our emergency rooms full of 5 year old kids caught in the cross fire of turf wars, and urban shoot outs over "respect". Hunters and law abiding citizens have no need for those types of high powered weapons and ammunition.

And, as revealed by ABC News, the NRA (working with the Bush Administration) is also protecting gun and ammunition sales to the Mexican drug cartels, who, according to U.S. law enforcement statistics, get more than 90% of their guns from the U.S. 3,500 people have been murdered by the Mexican drug cartels in the last 15 months, 2,000 of them law enforcement officials.

The number of U.S. deaths from gun violence are almost 10 times the numbers in Mexico. According to a 2007 New York Times article, 29,569 Americans died from gun violence in 2004, that's 81 deaths every day. An additional 176 people are injured daily from gun violence (64,389 in 2004). The CDC has updated their site to include statistics from 2005 (the latest year full statistics are available) and gun deaths rose that year to 30,694.

By comparison, 4,092 American soldiers have been killed in Iraq during the last five years at the time of this article. Approximately 150,000 Americans have been killed at home from gun violence during the same period.

So who is the NRA protecting, U.S. citizens or gun company sales?

The laws Barack Obama supports that the NRA are vehemently against include sensible acts like:

* Mandatory waiting periods to purchase a gun

* Requiring citizens to actually register their firearms

* Mandatory micro stamping of guns to aid tracing weapons

This is just wrong. There will be a huge increase in violence in the work place. Now rather than having to go home and probably cooling down, people will get to their car and say, "wait, I've got my gun right here and go back and BANG BANG BANG!.' Luckily though they need to leave it in their cars so they just need to stay inside their work place.
Gun rights advocates praised the Florida Legislature for passing a measure that allows gun owners to have firearms locked in their cars while they are working.

The measure prohibits business owners from banning firearms that are kept locked in cars by their employees when those vehicles are parked on company property.

"We believe this legislation will prevent unfair sanctions against workers who simply want to exercise their constitutional right to have a firearm for their personal protection while traveling to and from work," said Alan Gottlieb, chairman of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA).

"Florida citizens who are legally licensed to carry have gone through background checks and a licensing process that certainly establishes their standing as law-abiding," he added. "These are not the kind of people who pose a problem in the workplace."

Brian Siebel, senior attorney with the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, however, noted that even those with a license to carry a concealed weapon commit crimes.

"Guns on company property make workplaces less safe," he told Cybercast News Service. "There is a study that shows that workplaces where guns are permitted are five to seven times more likely to be the site of a workplace homicide than places where guns are prohibited.

"There are disgruntled employees, and they should certainly not be given access to firearms in the company parking lot," Siebel said. "It doesn't make sense to enable that to take place."

The legislation now goes to Republican Gov. Charlie Crist. Earlier this year, a similar law was struck down in Oklahoma as unconstitutional.

"We think the Florida law is similarly unconstitutional if it's signed by Gov. Crist," Siebel said. "Both Florida law and federal law require employers in Florida to provide for a safe workplace, and it's impossible to provide a safe workplace if you cannot control firearms on workplace property."

"The Florida Legislature has taken a courageous and sensible step," countered Joe Waldron, CCRKBA special projects director, who resides in Tallahassee, Fla. "There is no reason why anyone should face discipline or dismissal for simply having a firearm locked in their car when they have a state-issued permit to carry that firearm elsewhere."

Siebel, however, noted that, in Florida, many firearms are stolen from parked vehicles, and called the legislation the "gun thieves' opportunity act." He said this will lead to more crime.

A burglar in southern Cedar County found himself in a standoff this week -- not with police but with a 57-year-old woman armed with a pistol and training for a conceal-and-carry permit. She held the burglar at bay until police could arrive to arrest him at the rural home where whe found him in the closet.

How is it that this world allows a pizza delivery driver to carry a firearm? There's no need for this. It appears to me that there is something more sinister here that we aren't hearing. He should be put away for encroaching on our guild. We are glad to see he was fired for injuring two young teenages. Injustices like this must end.
We mourn the passing of the young apprentice who was brutally shot and murdered by a madman while only performing the job he was just beginning to love. This shows that possesion of firearms in the hands of citizens takes the lives of young men.
Stillman Valley houseguest shoots, kills intruder; 2 others sought

uthorities are working this morning to identify a young man who was shot and killed after he broke into a rural home near Stillman Valley, Ogle County Sheriff Gregory Beitel said.

About 11 p.m. Sunday, a man staying at a home in the 9100 block of Meridian Road awakened to the sound of shattered glass and grabbed a handgun after realizing people were inside, Beitel said. The man told deputies at least three people broke into the house, one of whom entered his bedroom and then fled, Beitel said.

The houseguest then left the bedroom and came face to face, Beitel said, with a man aiming a firearm at him. The houseguest then fired twice, killing the man, Beitel said.

.He walked out of the bedroom and there was this guy right in front of him, coming out of the other room,. Beitel said. .He fired in self-defense..

Beitel said it.s too soon in the investigation to know whether the houseguest will be charged with a crime.

He described the deceased as a young, white man with sandy brown hair and a thin build. He said the man had no identification on him. Deputies recovered a long gun next to the man and a pistol on the floor, several feet from him, Beitel said. Detectives are trying to determine whether those weapons belonged to the man or the homeowner, as they also recovered at least a dozen firearms hidden around the perimeter of the property.

.At this point, we don.t know whether they brought them with them,. Beitel said. .We know the homeowner was an avid sportsman and had a large collection of firearms..

Officials also are searching for two other men who fled the house, possibly in a vehicle, Beitel said. Late Sunday, a search party including Winnebago County sheriff.s deputies, state troopers and a helicopter scanned the rural area, which is about 2.5 miles north of Stillman Valley, just south of the Winnebago-Ogle county line.

Investigators also will follow leads in Rockford today, he said.

Beitel would not release the name of the houseguest or the homeowner, but described them both as adult men.
